First instance

On May 18, 2022, Kentucky resident Dorsey Daniel, who suffered from Parkinson's disease as a result of using Paraquat, which he sprayed on a tobacco farm between the 1980s and 1990s, filed a complaint in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas against the manufacturers and sellers of Paraquat, Syngenta, Chevron and FMC. He filed suit seeking equitable relief, monetary restitution and/or compensatory and punitive damages.

Due to the very large number of claims alleging that Paraquat caused Parkinson's disease, the cases were consolidated. On July 11, 2022, Dorsey Daniel's case was consolidated with others in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois (In Re: Paraquat Products Liability Litigation v. Syngenta Crop Protection, LLC et al, Lead case: 3:21-md-03004).
