In a letter sent to the Campagne glyphosate Group (Collectif Campagne glyphosate) on 12 October 2023, the Prosecutor's Office of the Paris Judicial Court announced that it had closed without further action the 5,400 complaints filed since 2018 by individuals concerned about the high levels of glyphosate detected by tests in their urine.

Between 2018 and 2020, almost 7,000 people took part in a urine analysis campaign to detect residues of glyphosate, an active substance that is probably carcinogenic and endocrine disrupting, used in pesticide products. The results, published in the journal "Environmental Science and Pollution Research" in January 2022, show that 99.8% of those tested had glyphosate in their urine, with an average level of 1.19 nanograms per milliliter, twelve times higher than the standards applicable to glyphosate residues in drinking water.

Following this discovery, 5,400 complaints were lodged against unknown persons, with the aim of "leaving it to the courts to identify the entire chain of responsibility". The claimants put forward several grounds in support of their claims: aggravated fraud, environmental damage and endangering the lives of others.

In its decision to refuse the application, the Paris public prosecutor's office stressed that "the claimants do not risk immediate death or injury likely to result in permanent mutilation or disability". However, as the Prosecutor's Office points out, "no long-term toxicity study has been carried out or retained by Efsa on the cocktail effects of glyphosate-based herbicide formulations".

In a press release dated 15 October 2023, the Campagne glyphosate Group stated that it was studying the legal remedies available to it to challenge this decision.
