{"id":3170,"date":"2019-01-15T16:17:21","date_gmt":"2019-01-15T16:17:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.justicepesticides.org\/?p=3170\/"},"modified":"2019-01-15T16:17:21","modified_gmt":"2019-01-15T16:17:21","slug":"justice-speaks-in-favour-of-a-healthy-environment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/justicepesticides.org\/en\/2019\/01\/15\/justice-speaks-in-favour-of-a-healthy-environment\/","title":{"rendered":"JUSTICE SPEAKS IN FAVOUR OF A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Paris, January 15, 2019<\/strong>: The Lyon Administrative Court today ruled in favour of the <a href=\"http:\/\/criigen.org\/Bienvenue\" target=\"_blank\">CRIIGEN<\/a> association, represented by <strong>Corinne Lepage<\/strong>, lawyer in Huglo Lepage law firm and Chair of <a href=\"https:\/\/justicepesticides.org\/en\/who-we-are\/conseil-dadministration\/\" target=\"_blank\">Justice Pesticides<\/a>, in the case filed on 27 April 2017 against the authorisation by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anses.fr\/en\" target=\"_blank\">ANSES<\/a> (<em>Agence nationale de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 sanitaire, de l&#8217;alimentation, de l&#8217;environnement et du travail<\/em>) of the glyphosate-based herbicide Roundup Pro 360 (<a href=\"https:\/\/justicepesticides.org\/en\/juridic_case\/criigen-v-anses\/\" target=\"_blank\">Case N\u00b0 1704067<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>By its order of 15 January, the 6th Chamber of the TA of Lyon annulled the decision of 6 March 2017 by which the Director General of ANSES authorised the placing on the market of Roundup Pro 360.<\/p>\n<p>The Court acknowledges that Roundup is probably carcinogenic and that the decision to authorise the placing on the market of Roundup Pro 360 does not respect the precautionary principle and represents a clear error of assessment on the part of the agency. He considers that there is not even any need to refer the matter to the Court of Justice of the European Union to assess whether CRIIGEN is entitled to request the cancellation of the marketing authorisation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jo\u00ebl Spiroux de Vend\u00f4mois<\/strong>, President of CRIIGEN, said: &#8220;This is a huge victory for public health and also for CRIIGEN. This decision represents a real disavowal for ANSES, which should have only one goal, the protection of the population.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Justice Pesticides considers this decision to be a fantastic victory for the protection of human health and the environment and for all groups that fight against the use of poorly evaluated toxic pesticides.
