Farmers on Trial Against Monsanto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/justicepesticides.org\/en\/juridic_case\/roundup-products-liability-litigation\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hundreds of lawsuits<\/a>, involving nearly 3,500 farmers in different American states, have been brought together in the San Francisco Federal Court.<\/p>\n<p>This week from 5 to 10 March is crucial because the hearings of scientific experts before Judge Vince Chhabria will determine whether the complaints will be followed up or closed.<\/p>\n<p>Carey Gillam, research director at US Right To Know (USRTK) and member of the board of Justice Pesticides, attends the hearings and reports live on <a href=\"https:\/\/usrtk.org\/live-updates-monsanto-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/usrtk.org\/live-updates-monsanto-hearing\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>News release from USRTK: \u201cScience Week\u201d in a federal court will decide if farmer cancer lawsuits move forward<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A federal court hearing in San Francisco this week will turn a spotlight on the science surrounding the world\u2019s most widely used pesticide, glyphosate, and will determine whether farmers and their families will be able to proceed with legal action against Monsanto Co. over cancer concerns.<\/p>\n<p>More than 365 lawsuits are pending against Monsanto in U.S. District Court in San Francisco, filed by people alleging that exposure to Roundup herbicide caused them or their loved ones to develop non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and that Monsanto covered up the risks.<\/p>\n<p>The court has dubbed the March 5-9 events as \u201cscience week\u201d because the only evidence to be presented will come from experts in cancer science, including epidemiologists, toxicologists, and biomedical statistical analysts called to analyze relevant research.
